Sukoharjo - Chairman of Muhammadiyah, AR Sukriyanto warned that the development of science and technology, information, transportation and population migration are very fast to make a challenge for the Scout organization of Hizbul Wathan (HW).
"Therefore, the HW should immediately take strategic and tactical steps," Sukriyanto explained in front of the Seminar of Scout Movement Acceleration of Hizbul Wathan as Modern and Real Scout, "in the auditorium of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS), Pabelan, Kartasura, Sukoharjo on Saturday (23/8).
Sukriyanto asked HW leaders to increase the movement in the organization as well as to be willing to study and develop HW not only from the aspects of organization, but also from ideological and concrete activities. HW must build human resources and conduct a lot of qualified trainings including theoretical knowledge, physical skills, as well as a comparative study, both domestic and abroad.
HW must be willing to socialize, especially in educational institutions and also in various neighborhoods, villages, districts, regions and provinces that do not have Muhammadiyah members. "HW should become a pioneer," he said.
In the future, HW must be prepared by embedding its vision and mission. HW should reaffirm its vision as Muhammadiyah cadres, society cadres and cadres of the nation. HW mission portrayed in symbols, treaties and laws should always be displayed in the public realized.
144 HW Scouts from Muhammadiyah Universities Followed National Jamboree
A total of 144 Hizbul Wathan (HW) scouts from Universities of Muhammadiyah (PTM) followed the 2014 National Jamboree held by HW (21 - 24/8) on the campus of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS). "They come from 25 PTMs from all over Indonesia," said Chairman of the Central Kwartir of HW, Aaron Uun Syamsuddin, in UMS Campus, Sukoharjo on Friday (22/8).
Uun said that this National Jamboree was like penuntun or penegak Jamboree for Scout program (pramuka) and it was the first time after HW scouting had been frozen by the government in 1961. The purpose of the jamboree event for this time was to strengthen the friendship or ukhuwah among HW members. In addition, this event wanted to synchronize the perception among HW scouts, both models, training methods, as well as to update inappropriate methods that were not in accordance with the times.
