Magelang – 43 Muhammadiyah University of Magelang (UMM) lecturers joined a training to improve their instructive technique so that they would be more proficient in teaching, said the Rector of UMM, EkoMuhWidodo.

“The training was attended by both new and old lecturers, so that they would be able to give better teaching,” he said, as uttered to the editorial of Muhammadiyah.or.id website on Tuesday (8/26).

He hoped the training participants whole-heartedly followed the program. The improvement of teaching technique competence by the lecturers, he said, was an important requirement so that the knowledge they conveyed would reach the students well.

The Vice Rector of Academic Division of UMM, Purwati, stated that the 5-days training (8/25-29) was a collaboration between UMM and Kopertis Wilayah VI Jawa Tengah, while the training was held in the auditorium of GedungRektorat UMM.

She hoped the training would improve the lecturers’ performance, which would be implemented towards the university performance, including the quality of its graduates.

“Besides character building, UMM lecturers will also participate in training on Applied Approach (AA) that is also the chain event of the training to improve the lecturers’ quality,” she said.

The coordinator of Kopertis Wilayah VI Jawa Tengah, D.Y.P. Sugiharto, said that the improvement of university was also a part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of human resources including the lecturers, such as by Master’s degree or doctoral degree.

“Also through effective training. With quality human resources, I hope that the university will become an organization, which is able to face all kinds of future challenges effectively,” Sugiharto said, who were giving a training on StrategiPeningkatanKualitasPendidikanTinggidanKebijakanKopertis Wilayah VI Jawa Tengah.
