Indonesia Must Become World Peace Funnel

Jakarta - Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, stated that world peace should be upheld and Indonesia must be the pioneer of it. This was stated during a World Peace Day commemoration at Bundaran HI (09/21/14).

 

Lukman judged that people were aware of the peace of the world but only in celebrate peace day, not the substance of peace.

 

"We do not only commemorate the peace of the world but also confirm how important peace is and drop directly into an actor of peace." He concluded.

 

He also added “no matter any difference is, we are united by common interests.”

 

"We are all intrinsically craving peace. We present the different symbols but we still need to confirm that it continues to strive for peace". He said.

 

Secretary General of the central board of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah, Ulfa Mawardi, stated that we had to create and bring a sense of peace in daily life, particularly in bringing a sense of peace in the life of women and children.

 

Ulfa also added that Nasyiatul Aisyiyah as a daughter of Muhammadiyah organization committed to play its role as female and child friendly movement that continued to struggle in the attempts of awareness, advocacy, advocacy and empowerment of women and children. This movement could be done by giving protection to the rights of women and children from all forms of violence both verbal and non-verbal.

 

"Stop the violence committed both personal, communal, and violence perpetrated by the state. Create a culture of peace in the family, school and community as a nation state", She said.

 

In line with Ulfa, Chairman of Muhammadiyah Students Association, Beni Pramula, believed that young generation was the key to create peace in the world and IMM realized the responsibility to participate in maintaining world peace.

 

"The family is the first school of peace and the parents are the primary educators for peace through the examples and teachings of their life" he said.

 

According to Beni, parents had special privilege to nurture their children in the fundamental values ​​to live a peaceful life. Those fundamental values included mutual trust, mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual listening, caring and forgiving each other.

 

"With the spiritual values ​​and morals as a solid foundation of education, educators have an obligation to watch students of ideologies which can cause cracks and splits", he concluded.

 

World Peace Day celebration was held by Wakhid Institute in cooperation with the central board of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah, LH-HAM of the central board of Muhammadiyah Students Association and others peace NGOs. (Dhar)
