Din Syamsudin: Muhammadiyah Universities should Compete

Gresik – The General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Din Syamsudin expected Muhammadiyah Universities (Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah/PTM) did not only compete with the other Muhammadiyah Universities but also with Public Universities (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/PTN). He also reminded that they should produce quality graduates, as stated on Saturday (10/11).

“Not only on its building, in which physically should be big and magnificent, non-physical aspect is also important. The inside faculty members, especially the students, should be of high-quality, producing quality graduates. Of course this should be supported by quality lecturers, as well,” said Din Syamsudin, on the event of first stone placing in the new building of Muhammadiyah University of Gresik (Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik/UMG) on the 9th floor.

According to Din, PTM should not only compete with other Muhammadiyah Universities, they should also compete with PTN.

“Now we should expect the competitiveness, a competition. Thus, I encourage UMG to not only compete with Muhammadiyah Universities, but also to compete with public Universities such as Muhammadiyah University of Malang, Yogyakarta, Solo, which were already included in Indonesia Top8 Best Universities along with UI, ITB, IPB, UGM, and so on,” he added.

Din Syamsudin emphasized that Muhammadiyah Central Executive as the central organization worked as the organization umbrella kept encouraging the development of higher education institutions and universities. Muhammadiyah Central Executive managed the development and helped opening a new connection with the outside world. Now, the network, the connection was very important, not only in national level but also international level. (dzar)
