Rector UMJ Opened 2014 IMC 2014

Jakarta – Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UniversitasMuhammadiyah Jakarta/UMJ) MasyitohChusnan, opened the International Multidisciplinary Conference 2014 (IMC 2014) that was helf in 3F of Pascasarjana Building of UMJ, which was located in Jl. K.H. Ahmad DahlanCirendeu,CiputatTimur,Tangerang Selatan, on Wednesday (11/12).

In his opening speech, MasyitohChusnan expressed his appreciation towards the conference participants from all over the world who were willing to attend the event and he did not forget to express his thankfulness towards the standing committee of Graduate School of UMJ who had worked hard of holding the event and made success for the International Multidisciplinary Conference 2014 (IMC 2014). “Welcome to the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta” greeted the Rector of UMJ.

He believed that the conference gave a different meaning for the University, especially UniversitasMuhammadiyah Jakarta to welcome the challenge that would be faced by the ASEAN Economic Community. Masyitoh explained that Universities had to prepare themselves for they had important mission to form Indonesian human resources to face the future ASEAN Economic Community.

“Right now, Indonesia has less than 4% of business stocks, while each country has to own at least 4% of business stock to ensure good economy,” he explained. 

The Chairman of standing committee, AdiFahruddin, explained that International Multidisciplinary Conference 2014 (IMC 2014) was held on November 12 to November 13, 2014 and it took the theme of “ASEAN Economic Community: Transformation, Policy, Partnership and Action Toward Regional Prosperity.” The event was attended by academicians and practitioners from various countries such as Malaysia, Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Denmark, Kirgizstan, Australia, and Indonesia. The main keynote speakers wereMochtan (Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs), Datuk Dr. Yahaya Bin Ibrahim (Vice Consellor – University Sultan ZainalAbidin, Malaysia), and Choi Won-Gyu, MSW (Vice-President for Student Affair, Chonbuk National University, Chonju, South Korea).

There were eight main discussion topics in the conference; they are 1)Politic, Policy, Law and Governance; 2)Economic, Finance, and Management; 3)Science, Environment and Technology; 4)Language, Media and Communication; 5)Psychology, Education and Development; 6)Health Nursing and Social Work; 7) Religion, Art, Culture and Tourism; 8)Children, Women and Family. “The conference results will give suggestion or proposals for the government related to economic issue in ASEAN,” explained Professor AdiFahrudinwhen he was interviewed.
