Malang –Muhammadiyah University of Malang held a tablighakbar and UMM Award, which were the climax point of the event 50 Years of Gold Anniversary of UMM that was held in UMM Dome on Sunday, December 7, 2014. About 10.000 Muhammadiyah members from various regions in East Java attended the event. Furthermore, the rectors of some Muhammadiyah Universities in Java, Sumatera, and Sulawesi also attended the event.

MuhadjirEffendy, the rector UMM in his opening speech stated that his leadership in holding the mandate by Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board took UMM into a better one.

“UMM in the future will be better than before and what UMM had achieved right now is the aspiration of the previous leaders and Muhammadiyah public figures,”Muhadjir expressed.

“Therefore, today UMM is building its future dreams and preparing the future generations in realizing the dreams,” he added.

In the climax point of the event, they granted UMM award for eight important Muhammadiyah figures, who had spent most of their lifetime to develop and improve Muhammadiyah’s name in various fields. They were Prof. Dr. Syafi'iMa'arif, Prof DrChamamahSuratno, Prof. Dr. AmienRais, Prof. Dr. Malik Fadjar, Dr. RosyadSholeh, Ir. Dasron Hamid, Dra. ElidaDjasman, and Drs. MuchlasAbror.

HaedarNasir, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive also attended the event to witness the UMM award granting to the eight figures.

“UMM has new tradition in the membership, which is giving award to the important figures. It is hoped that the existence of UMM Award will encourage the future generations in being inspired by them,”Haedar explained. (mona)
