UMJ Succeeded Holding National Seminar on Parliamentary Politics Communication

South Tangerang – Master Faculty of Communication Studies of Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UniversitasMuhammadiyahJakartaaa/UMJ) held a day seminar on the Portrait of Parliamentary Politics Communication of Republic of Indonesia (PotretKomunikasiPolitikParlemenRepublik Indonesia). This event was attended by all academicians of UMJ to support the teaching and education of political communication for all academicians of Mikom UMJ.

After the inauguration on October 1, 2014, the House of Representatives (DPR) or 2014-2019 faced many internal problems. The problems related to the relationship between each fraction of political parties supporting the government, which was included in Koalisi Indonesia Hebat (KIH) and against government fraction, KoalisiMerahPutih (KMP).

The Rector of UniversitasMuhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) MasyitohChusnan said that the contradicting opinion in DPR was due to miscommunication between political actors in DPR.

“I ask as well as conclude that there is a political miscommunication in the parliamentary board, we will discuss about that later,” Masyitoh stated in the seminar, which was held in KampusUniversitasMuhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) in Ciputat, South Tangerang on Saturday (12/13/2014).

In order to solve this problem, he said, it was important for us to hold repeated political communication (komunikasipolitikulang). This should not only be done between the political actors in DPR but also between the leaders of each political party.

He thought, if KMP and KIH did not communicate well by pushing aside their ego, the conflict would remain intact. “The political elites need to place people’s interest above everything else,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Mikom UMJ, Harmonis, stated that the seminar would give critiques or positive suggestion for the performance of parliamentary board so that in the future, it would be better and quality parliamentary board.

The Chairman of The Assembly of Citizens (MPR), ZulkifliHasan, Political Expert from LIPI, SitiZuhro, some members of House of Parliament from some fraction (MaruararSirait for PDIP), and Political Expert from LingkarMadani Indonesia (LIMA) Ray Rangkuti attended the event as the keynote speakers.
