Jakarta- Through a letter dated on Sept 18, 2011, the government of Somalia represented by the embassy of the Republic of Somalia in Jakarta expressed its gratitude to Muhammadiyah members who have helped Somalians whose most of its regions suffer from hunger.

The ambassador of the Republic of Somalia in Jakarta, Mohamud Olow Barow, in a letter whose copy has been accepted by the editorial of Muhammadiyah website on Saturday night (17/09/2011) says that the aid was given through one of NGOs in Mogadishu, Somalia. The aid is reportedly accepted by 240 families in the form of food such as rice, wheat, cooking oil, and biscuit. The letter sent to the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Din Syamsuddin, is also complemented with pictures of aid distribution. People standing up in the line for the aid appear in the pictures.

Beforehand, on August 26, 2011, Muhammadiyah through Lazismu (charity institution managed by Muhammadiyah) gave an aid that was directly handed by Din Syamsuddion and directly accepted by Somalia ambassador M. Olow Barow cost Rp. 100 million in the meeting at Dakwah Building of Muhammadiyah Central Executive in Jakarta. Din Syamsuddin stated his commitment to keep helping Somalians in facing the problem of hunger through posko (location) and bank account for Somalia managed by Lazis Muhammadiyah.
