Yogyakarta- Centuries ago, a famous adage "seek knowledge until China" emerged. Why China? Maybe this simple question often appears when hearing the proverb. Historically, China is a country with various knowledge and high culture. This can be seen from the knowledge they master, starting from medicine, martial art, war strategy to literature.
Science is universal. It doesn't see religion, ethnic group, country, culture, etc. Everyone has a right to get it, However, as time goes by, China is not the only one to get knowledge. Besides China, in Asian region, Indonesia also has a similar role. Indonesia, a country with thousands of unique thing, also has a lot of cultures that can be a place to get knowledge.
Similar to China, Indonesia is also a place to get knowledge. This has been done by hundreds of international students, and recently it is done by 4 female students from Malaya University, Malaysia. They are Nur'Ain bt. Abu Kassim, Noor Hanisah bt. Abdul Latiff, Nataibah bt. Ismail, dan Noor Shahida bt. Wahab. Those 4 students will study for 1 semester (6 months) at Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), Yogyakarta.
"We get 4 female students from Malaya University, Malaysia. They will study for 1 semester in this campus. Cooperating with Malaysia is a new program. They are our first student Malaysia. Beforehand our international students are from Thailand. They only take 10 SKS (5 courses). Since this is the beginning, we still adjust. In Malaysia, they are students from Language and Linguistics Faculty. At UAD they join Arabic Literature and Language Faculty," said Abdul Mukhlis, M.Ag., Program Head of Islamic Study Faculty, in his office.
He also said that this international exchange program is not limited to student exchange, but it will include lecturers and journal.
"We have discussed this program further. In the future, besides students, lecturers with good achievement will be sent to teach there. For students, Insya Allah next semester. For lecturers, it is still a long plan because they ask professor lecturers. We ask for pray and cooperation from all parties to get the best, Amen."
