Surakarta– Muhammadiyah, which would enter the age of a century, would continue to seek peace in the world as part of the internationalization of the organization established by KH Ahmad Dahlan. In this program, particularly in Southeast Asia, Muhammadiyah would initiate efforts for peace in the southern Philippines and southern Thailand.
DinSyamsuddin, Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central xecutive , delivered it to reporters after opening the Muhammadiyah Pre-Conference Seminar II, with the theme of Muhammadiyah Internationalization for Universal Humanity in the Djazman Hall of University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Tuesday (14/4).
In the seminarwith Azyumardi Azra, Bakhtiar Effendi, the Dean of the Faculty of Political in Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, stated that Muhammadiyah's involvement in international affairs had happened long before, of which Lukman Aaron led the defense of Palestinian government leader Yasser Arafat. He saw, under the leadership of Din Syamsuddin now, the role of Muhammadiyah was intensified.
"The problem is that in the Muhammadiyah Congress there should be changes of the constitution and by-laws that were in line with the role. In addition, Muhammadiyah was challenged the extent to which able to develop Islam with lilalamin rahmatan, Islam Nusantara that was tolerant, friendly and humane to the whole world," he said in front of hundreds 47th Pre-Conference seminar participants.
IfMuhammadiyah organization was able to answer the challenge, he added, in the next 30 years while Muslims in the world was balanced quantitatively with the Christians, it would be able to give an enormous contribution.
Secretaryof Muhammadiyah Central Executuve, Abdul Mukti, in a press conference explained, that in internationalizing Muhammadiyah, many enormous challenges faced. Therefore, the main obstacle was the limitation of foreign languages among the cadres and members of Muhammadiyah.
