Institute of Cultural Art and Sport Held the Second College Student Art Week of Muhammadiyah Universities in University of Muhammadiyah Cirebon

Yogyakarta – The implementation of the Second College Student Art Week of Muhammadiyah Universities in 2015 held back by the Institute of Cultural Art and Sport of Muhammadiyah Central Executive. This activity coincided with the 47th Muhammadiyah Pre-Congress Seminars at the University of Muhammadiyah Cirebon on Saturday (16/5).

In a press conference held by the Central Committee of the Art Week and the Institute of Cultural Art and Sport at the Office of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Jl Cik Ditiro 23 Yogyakarta, Muhammadiyah Chairman of the Institute of Cultural Art and Sport, Sukriyanto AR, said that the Cultural Art Week would be opened immediatelyby the General  Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Din Shamsuddin, and the Minister of Research and Technology and Higher Education Affairs, Mohammad Nasi, on Saturday (16/5).

Sukriyanto added that the College Student Art Week that took “Developing prophetic art in order to enlighten the soul and character development of this nation” as the theme would last for 3 days at May 16, 17, and 18, 2015.

Nur Sahid, Chairman of the Committee for College Student Art Week, said at a press conference Wednesday (13/5) that the event was filled by 11 races, such as competition of poetry reading, qiraah, monologue, pop religion music contest, poetry musical, batik design, calligraphy painting, calligraphy decor, and vocal group.

Nur Sahid also explained that hundreds of participants from all college students of Muhammadiyah all over Indonesia would attend this activity. "They (participants) will be present at the Muhammadiyah University Cirebon, by bringing their equipment for the competition because they will compete for 3 days,” he said.

In the middle of the College Student Art Week, there would be held cultural dialogue with Buya Syafii Maarif (former chairman of Muhammadiyah and Nations Figures) and Emha Ainun Najib (Cultural Person), Dedi Mizwar (actor and deputy governor of West Java), etc.

Jabrohim, the Chairman of the Institute of Cultural Art and Sport of Muhammadiyah Central Exevutive explained that for the 47th Congress, it would continue to participate in the festive to welcome the 47th Muhammadiyah Congress in Makassar. "We've collaborated with several Muhammadiyah Universities to fill events in order to wel come the Muhammadiyah Congress, but it would be unlike five years ago on the Muhammadiyah Congress Yogyakarta in 2010," he concluded.
