UMSU library will add 3,000 new books

Medan- This coming December, the libarary of UMSU (Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatera) will add 3,000 new books. This aims to increase the horizon and knowledge quality of civitas academica at UMSU. even it is expected that UMSU library can be a "window of the world". Recently UMSU has 17,000 pieces of books with 6,500 titles. By adding new books, it is expected that reading interest of students is higher, especially for lecturers and students who are active in doing research," said UMSU Rector Agussani through Anwar Bakti, UMSU Public Relation.
 
The library head of UMSU, Irfan Bustami, says "we apply automation system. It is an integrated service system with digital system. It is expected that by using this new system, book management can be controlled and books are easy to find. The students who get this service must have KTM (Student Card) replacing KTA (Member Card)".
 
In the future, according to Bustami, the library will also use WEB system that can be accessed outside campus. The project is being done by IT department of UMS. To give maximum service to civitas academica, UMSU library having 15 personnels is ready to serve from 8 to 21.30.
 
In the meantime, Anwar Bakti also explains that UMSU library has shown its best performance in developing the horizon of various components in society. It is proven with the great number of visitors outside the campus who come to the library and use it as a place to get informasion and knowledge. Due to its action, the library gets awards as the best library in North Sumatera for higher institution for several times. (www.umsu.ac.id)
