Jakarta- The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA (UHAMKA) is managed to get 'One Star' of QS Star. QS-Star Rating System is a program done by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) - a company focusing on education and foreing study having an office in London. The program scores on the performance of a university. The scoring result is in the form rating, not a rank as done by QS World Universities Ranking that is also done by QS. QS World Universities Ranking periodically releases 500 world top or 200 regional top such as Asia, Europe, and other regions, while rating from QS-Star is in the form of the number of stars, starting from one to five star.
Criteria and Scoring Indicator. QS-Star Rating System uses 8 criteria consisting of 4 main criteria, 3 additional criteria, and 1 specialist-subject criteria. Main criteria are (1) Research Quality with 4 indicators (2) Graduate Employability with 4 indicators, (3) Teaching Quality with 8 indicators, and (4) Infrastructure with 14 indicators. Additional criteria cover (a) Internationalization with 3 indicators, (b) Innovation and Technology Transfer with 4 indicators, (c) Third Mission with 3 indicators.
"Star" Decision is done based on final score from the whole indicators. Passing grades for "One Star" until "Five Star" are as follows: 100, 250, 400, 550, dan 700.
UHAMKA is one of universities that gets grant from QS Stars program 2010. After fulfilling the qualification (borang) based on QS Star's required criteria and indicators, finally UHAMKA gets a star.
Qualification fulfillment was done through internet. The data sent were: facilities, research, employees, teaching, students, international events, and other specific data. All data were sent through email.
On November 18, 2011, coinciding with 54th anniversary of UHAMKA, Rector Prof. Dr. Suyatno, M.Pd will receive the 'one star' award from QS Star. The rector will be accompanied by Deputy I Dr. H. Muchdie, MS, Department Head of Public Relation and Promotion, Dr. Tri Wintolo Apoko, M.Pd, and the Head of Promotion Department, Drs. Munawar Rahman, MM.
