Yogyakarta – Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) distributed aid to the people living in Pesisir Selatan Regency in West Sumatera who fled due to tremendous flood happening on Thursday midnight (3/11/2011). Quick aid sent was blanket, instant food, water. Besides Pesisir selatan, Muhammadiyah also sent volunteers to Kota Padang and some other regencies in West Sumatera.
“What Muhammadiyah can contribute next is adjusted to the assessment development on the location and will be coordinated with the local government," said Arif Nur Kholis, MDMC secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Executive on Thursday night at the building of Pusat Dakwah Muhammadiyah on Jl Menteng Raya 62 Jakarta. “We also distributes aid from public. Stuff contribution can be sent directly to LPB Muhammadiyah in West Sumatera, while money contribution can be sent to the account administered by LAZISMU,” added Arif.
According to the data released on www.mediacenter.or.id, the tremendous flood has taken 4 lives; 52,123 people fled. They are from 8 subdistricts: Ranah Pasisir, Lengayan, Sutra, Lenggo Sari Baganti, Pancu Soal, Batang, Batangkapas and Basa Ampek Balai Tapan in Pesisir Selatan Regency in West Sumatera.
Dead people: Lengayan subdistrict: 1. Isnaidarni (40), 2. Naisya (8) 3. Santia (22). Ranah subdistrict, Padang Laban village: 1 person missing. Missing people: Linggo Sari Baganti subdistrict: 1. Kidit (65), 2. Rayos (24), 3. 9-month baby; Pasir Putih Kambang, Lengayang subdistrict: 1.Syamtia (22), 2. Ismaidarnis (40), 3. Neisya (8); Ranah Pesisir subdistrict: 1 person (not identified).
Damaged construction: 1. Pasir Putih Kambang, Lengayang subdistrict: A. Rumah: 6 units, 28 units (RB). B. public facility: 700-meter road vanished (Padang - Bengkulu national road ). 2. Sutera subdistrict: house 1 unit, 4 units (RB); public facility: 60-meter suspension bridge broke. Other subdistricts are being recorded.
