Yogyakarta- To increase competency, 8 lecturers from Jusuf Kalla School of Government at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (JKSG UMY) will take part in monthly seminar at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKY SPP) National University of Singapore for two days on November 9-10, 2011. Apart from taking part in the seminar, JKSG UMY team will also meet the board of institution to learn many things related to instituional management using "National Public Figure" like Jusuf Kalla. 

That was stated by Tunjung Sulaksono, S.IP, MA, a lecturer at JKSG, before leaving for Singapore on Tuesday (8/9) afternoon at UMY's Public Relation office. 

According to Tunjung, there are many things to be learnt at LKY SPP. They have Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and UMY has Jusuf Kalla School of Government. Lee Kuan Yew is an influential figure in Singapore, just like Jusuf Kalla who has colored governmental politic and national policies in Indonesia. By taking the seminar and visiting LKY SPP, UMY team can learn how to use a big name of public figure," said he.

Tunjung adds that after the visit, UMY team can apply what they get there. “LKY SPP has been successful in doing routine monthly seminar by talking about recent issues. JKSG must be able to become an institution that can raise national issues based on research. Later, ideas emerging concerning national problems can be a national agenda," he said.

The theme of the seminar is “The Current Financial Crisis”. The speaker is from US President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. UMY team members are Dr. Zuli Qodir, Atik Septiwinarsih, M.Si, Awang Darumurti, S.IP, M.Si, Dyah Mutiarin, Ph.D, Dr. Suranto, M.Pol,  Erni Zuhriyati, S.IP, M.Si, and Dr. Ulung Pribadi(www.umy.ac.id)
