Nasyiatul Aisyiyah launches a 'posyandu' for teenagers

Yogyakarta- During Tanwir Meeting II Nasyiatul Aisyiyah, Central Executive of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah launches a teenager posyandu as a pilot project that will be published by all provincial executives of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah all over provinces in Indonesia.

The increase of unwanted pregancy and pre-marriage sexual activity will create serviks cancer in the long run. Besides, minimum information on reproductive health is also a problem for teenagers. In fact, the right of reproductive health is the basic right for all citizens, including teenagers.

That was stated by Cadre Department of Nasyiatul Aisyiah Central Executive, Diah Puspitarini, during the opening of Tanwir II at Satya Graha Hotel on Friday on Dec 2, 2011. According to Diah, Nasyiatul ‘Aisyiyah as a part of civil society sees the importance of improving health degree for teenagers. Teenager posyandu, combined with health information on reproduction, is needed by teenagers. “Teenagers, in fact, need more integrated reproductive health service," said she.

According to Diah, the posyandu plans to train 1,000 volunteers who will be placed in all provinces in Indonesia. Diah also says that the service will focus on 5 aspects: the examination of blood pressure and body weight, HB level, women reproduction, psychology, and nutritious food. Nasyiatul Aisyiyah is developing a teenager posyandu in Gampingan and  Wirobrajan, an area around Winongo river.
