IMM UAD – PPWI holds journalistic seminar: year-end writing event

Yogyakarta- The collaboration between Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) and Indonesian Journalist Association (PPWI) DIY held the event of journalistic seminar on Sunday, December 18, 2011. The event taking the theme "The Strategy to be a Reliable Writer in Media" took place at room 203 campus 3 of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD). The event was attended by 187 participants. The atmosphere is different because the participants coming to the event have different background.

Three keynote speakers were Supadiyanto (chairman of PPWI DIY, editorial staff at KabarIndonesia.com, the former of journalist at Jawa Pos Solo), Sulis Setyawan (columnist at mass media) and Bramma Aji Putra (journalist of Kedaulatan Rakyat). They agree that writing is a matter of struggle, commitment, and self-awareness. Just like a knife, the more we grind, the sharper it will be. The principle is similar to writing that needs practicing. Writing is also a noble job that seems trivial; however, the writing impact is extraordinary.

The chairman of the event, Muhammad Reza Primadi, says that the seminar answers the concern of declining interest in writing for UAD students. Therefore, there should be a trigger to motivate the writing interest. "We hope the seminar can be a bridge to reactivate IMM program: a writing school," he said.

At the end of the seminar, the participants were asked to discuss journalistic world. There were a lot of questions asked by the participants. Those who asked questions got books as doorprize.
