Yogyakarta- Globalization era demands everybody to be more creative. The opportunities must be utilized well in order to be able to compete and not to be left behind. In fact, there are many university graduates bearing ‘Sarjana’ title become unemployment. Seeing this reality, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) in Yogyakarta keeps making policies to help its graduates get employment. The image saying that becoming a state employee is the pride should be omitted. The image will make people depend on the government and make them not creative.
51st anniversary of UAD taking the theme “Strengthening Technopreneurship to Supporting Sustainable National Independence" is based on the fact above. The top schedule of the event done on Saturday (31/12/2011) was the annual report of UAD rector, Drs. H. Kasiyarno, M.Hum, and scientific lecture given by the Chairman of PT. Pertamina’s Board of Directors, Dr.Sugiharto, S.E., MBA., (the former state minister of state-owned enterprises). The founders of UAD and all civitas academica were also present. In his lecture, Sugiharto says that Indonesia has abundant natural riches. However, the country cannot give employment to its people due to low entrepreneurship. As a result, it is difficult to erase poverty. By taking the theme “Character and Entrepreneurial Education: The Priceless Capital for Entrepreneurs”, Sugiharto also says that social transformation happens by involving 4 pillars: nation, mass organization such as Muhammadiyah, state-owned enterprises, and society.
Indonesia has big population. If Indonesians have entrepreneurial spirit, this nation can be a big and advanced country. The same thing is also said by UAD rector, and he mentions things having been done by UAD to realize national independence. “I express my gratitude to UAD founders, all civitas academica, and all parties that have supported and worked hard for UAD so far. All positive contribution based upon sincerity is big donation to UAD, the ummah, and this nation,” said Kasiyarno.
