Yogyakarta- The struggle of Commander-In-Chief General Soedirman will be turned into a movie. The movie is expected to grow nationalistic and patriotic soul, unity soul, and leadership. The movie with historical genre will be made in July. The plan of making the movie is informed by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP Muhammadiyah), the Council of Environment and Art and Culture Institute, H Syukriyanto AR, to journalists at Dakwah Building of  PP Muhammadiyah (05/01/2012).

According to Syukriyanto, the making of the movie is perfectly right in the middle of leadership crisis, and nationalistic and patriotic crisis. “Nowadays, our country is having leadership crisis among leaders. Look, conflict happens everywhere. Nationalism and patriotism have degraded,” said he.

The movie presenting the life and struggle of General Soedirman, according to Syukriyanto, can give inspiration and build the awareness of the importance of nationalism and patriotic soul. “We need a leader with integrity, honesty, and he must be ready to sacrifice for the interest of nation as done by General Soedirman,” he said. General Soedirman, according to Syukriyanto, is a great figure who had strong leadership and patriotic spirit. Besides, General Soedirman had spiritual soul and strong determination in keeping his principles. His attitude and simple life made him have charisma.

The movie script will be written by Koesyuliadi, a short movie script writer. Koesyuliadi tells journalists that the movie is based on a biography research. Apart from that, he does the interview with the relatives and friends of General Soedirman.

Based on the research, according to Koesyuliadi, the movie will have 3 sequels. The first sequel is when General Soedirman lived in Cilacap where He was actively involved in a boy scout organization named Hizbul Wathan and was active as a teacher at Muhammadiyah school. The second sequel is his struggle in Yogya. Besides, there will be scenes about his meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Soeharto and Sultan (the King) Yogyakarta. The third sequel is during independence revolt. Koesyuliadi hopes the movie will give inspiration for Indonesian people, especially young generation, about the importance of leadership, nationalism, and patriotism.
